Maybe it's because I like the look of a little dirt beneath my fingernails.
Or maybe it's because I want my life to be a place where good things take root and grow.
Perhaps it's because I have a penchant for the philosophical, and my dad always called it "sniffing deep dirt" when the conversation ran toward the profound.
And certainly it's because I'm growing two of the most important things of all—a marriage and a family.
