It Changes Everything

I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
of Jesus and his glory, of Jesus and his love.
I love to tell the story, because I know 'tis true;
it satisfies my longings as nothing else can do.

I love to tell the story, 'twill be my theme in glory,
to tell the old, old story of Jesus and his love.

I love to tell the story; more wonderful it seems
than all the golden fancies of all our golden dreams.
I love to tell the story, it did so much for me;
and that is just the reason I tell it now to thee.

I love to tell the story; 'tis pleasant to repeat
what seems, each time I tell it, more wonderfully sweet.
I love to tell the story, for some have never heard
the message of salvation from God's own holy Word.

I love to tell the story, for those who know it best
seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest.
And when, in scenes of glory, I sing the new, new song,
'twill be the old, old story that I have loved so long.

We didn't sing this song this morning, but I have been thinking about it all day. I started out thinking how it must be hard for pastors to preach Easter and Christmas every year, because how do you come up with something new every year? But then one of our pastors opened with this greeting: "Easter is the best day of the year. Jesus is alive ... and that changes everything."

It changes everything. It really does.

"And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep" - I Cor. 15:17-20

So there is no need to come up with something new each year. Because the old, old story is enough. We have Jesus, and it's a good thing, because Oh! how we need him!

Happy Easter!

  1. Lindy, what great posts. We read this passage in church Easter. I truly love how Paul states truth here. Love your family pics too!
